Peter hangs a wall unit in a bedroom with a large fan on the wall; the bed is covered.

WHERE IT FITS

Where a wall-mounted unit fits, and where it doesn't

A wall-mounted unit hangs high on the wall and blows the air into the room. You use the louvres to send the air in the right direction yourself. It fits wherever there's a stretch of free wall, including under a sloping roof, as in the photo at the top.

The unit does stay in view, though. If you'd rather not see it, have a look at a model in the ceiling.

A pipe runs from the indoor unit to the outdoor unit. Where we can, we hide it in the wall or the ceiling. If that isn't possible, it runs in trunking along the wall or the ceiling, as in this photo.

Rein adjusts the louvre of a white wall unit under the sloping roof of an attic room.

WHICH MODEL

Which wall-mounted unit for which room

Rein chooses the capacity by the square metres of the room. If you're exactly on a boundary, you get the smaller model.

Which wall-mounted unit for which floor area, with the sound level on the lowest setting
Your roomIndoor unitCapacityOn the lowest setting
Up to 20 m²SRK 20 ZS-WF2 kW19 dB(A)
21 to 30 m²SRK 25 ZS-WF2.5 kW19 dB(A)
31 to 40 m²SRK 35 ZS-WF3.5 kW19 dB(A)
41 to 60 m²SRK 50 ZS-WF5 kW22 dB(A)

The sound level is the manufacturer's figure when cooling, with one indoor unit on one outdoor unit.

Larger than 60 m², or more than three rooms? Then Rein comes to take a look first and works out a tailored price.

WHAT IT COSTS

What does a wall-mounted unit cost?

With one indoor unit on the wall in each room. A single room gets its own outdoor unit, and two or three rooms share one.

BY SIZE

Which size for one room

Rein chooses the indoor unit by the size of the room: up to 20 m² 2 kW, up to 30 m² 2.5 kW, up to 40 m² 3.5 kW and up to 60 m² 5 kW.

A single room gets its own outdoor unit. For two or three rooms, read more on Several rooms.

We quickly work out what it costs in your situation and send you the price indication, with everything included: supply, installation and VAT.

Everything is included in the price: the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries set, supply and fitting with the mounting materials and the refrigerant pipes, and all the work: the wall opening and pipework, a nitrogen pressure test, pulling a vacuum, commissioning and checking, explaining the controls and an installation label with the correct installation details.

There is no subsidy for air conditioning. We checked this on 22 October 2026.

QUESTIONS

What people ask about a wall-mounted unit

What capacity do I need?

That mainly depends on the square metres: above, you can see which model goes with which room. If you're exactly on a boundary, you get the smaller one.

How quiet is a wall-mounted unit?

According to the manufacturer, the 2 to 3.5 kW indoor units make 19 dB(A) when cooling on the lowest setting, and the 5 kW unit 22 dB(A). The lower the number, the quieter. On a higher setting you hear it more. For the outdoor unit, the limit is 40 dB at the boundary with the neighbours. Read the full answer

Can a wall-mounted unit heat as well?

Yes. Every wall-mounted unit we give a price for cools and heats. An indoor unit only heats the room it's in, though. Read the full answer

Can the pipework be kept out of sight?

Where we can, we hide the pipe in the wall or the ceiling. If that isn't possible, it runs in trunking along the wall. Rein will tell you what you'll still see when he comes to take a look. Read the full answer

How does the installation work?

First you get a price indication. If that suits you, Rein comes to take a look and you get a quote with a fixed price. Once you've agreed, we settle on a time together, and then Rein and Peter install the air conditioning. We make the wall opening and lay the pipework, do a pressure test with nitrogen and pull a vacuum on the system. Then we commission it and check it. We explain how the controls work, and we fit an installation label with the correct installation details. For us, the pressure test is a really important step: we put the pipework under pressure with nitrogen to check that it is leak-tight, before any refrigerant goes in. We also record the details on the installation label in our own records. Read the full answer

What warranty do I get?

You get a standard 2-year warranty, on top of your statutory rights. Have Airco Holland service it every year from the moment it is installed, and the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries manufacturer's warranty runs on for up to 5 years. Airco Holland is certified by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to offer this. The extension to 5 years applies to an air conditioner installed by Airco Holland, counted from the installation date. It starts once your maintenance plan is in place and the first service has been carried out and paid for. Skip the yearly maintenance and the extension lapses. You arrange the maintenance on airco-onderhouden.nl.
