Na de installatie kon het leidingwerk door zorgvuldige planning en uitvoering netjes in het schuine dakvlak weggewerkt worden. En met een dakdoorvoer kwam de buitenunit haast onzichtbaar op het platte dak uit op het huis. Chapeau voor het meedenken en de scherpe prijs.

  1. Service valves

    The pipe from each room connects to these copper valves.

    This is where Rein and Peter tighten the pipe for each room.

  2. One set per room

    Each black hose is a set of insulated copper pipes.

    Each set goes to its own indoor unit, so you can control each room separately.

Which outdoor unit for two or three rooms

Two rooms go with an SCM 40 or 45, three with an SCM 50 or 60. Rein chooses which one based on your rooms taken together.

Rein chooses the indoor unit by the size of the room: up to 20 m² 2 kW, up to 30 m² 2.5 kW, up to 40 m² 3.5 kW and up to 60 m² 5 kW.

Is one of the three rooms larger than 40 m²? Then Rein comes to take a look first.

We quickly work out what it costs in your situation and send you the price indication, with everything included: supply, installation and VAT.

Everything is included in the price: the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries set, supply and fitting with the mounting materials and the refrigerant pipes, and all the work: the wall opening and pipework, a nitrogen pressure test, pulling a vacuum, commissioning and checking, explaining the controls and an installation label with the correct installation details.

    Tell us how many rooms there are, how big each one is and where you live. You get a price indication with the indoor units and the outdoor unit included.

    We come to take a look

    If the price suits you, Rein looks at where the indoor units and the outdoor unit will go, and how the pipework will run to each room. After that, you get a quote with a fixed price.

    The day itself

    Rein and Peter fit an indoor unit in each room and connect them all to one outdoor unit. Then they show you how to control each room separately.

    How installation day goes

We make the wall opening and lay the pipework, do a pressure test with nitrogen and pull a vacuum on the system. Then we commission it and check it. We explain how the controls work, and we fit an installation label with the correct installation details. For us, the pressure test is a really important step: we put the pipework under pressure with nitrogen to check that it is leak-tight, before any refrigerant goes in. We also record the details on the installation label in our own records.

What you'll want to know beforehand

  • One outdoor unit for everything

    All the indoor units are connected to the same outdoor unit. If that outdoor unit needs repairing, all the rooms are out of action for a while.

    Which outdoor unit for your rooms

  • Adding a room later

    That's only possible if the outdoor unit can take another indoor unit. An SCM 40 or 45 has room for two, an SCM 50 or 60 for three, as long as the combined capacity fits. Thinking of adding a room later? Say so straight away, and Rein will choose the outdoor unit with that in mind.

    There's no standard price for that, and sometimes it means two outdoor units. Rein comes to take a look first and puts together a tailored price.

What's the difference between a single split and a multi split?

A single split is one outdoor unit with one indoor unit, for one room. A multi split is one outdoor unit with two or three indoor units, for several rooms. For two or more rooms, we install a multi split.

Is a multi split cheaper than two separate air conditioners?

Not always, and we'd rather tell you that up front. The difference is outside: one outdoor unit for all the rooms, instead of one per room.

Where will the outdoor unit go?

Rein works that out together with you. With a multi split there's one outdoor unit for all the rooms, so only one spot outside is needed. On the ground, you need no permit up to 1 metre high and 2 square metres; on the roof or an outside wall, your municipality's environment plan (omgevingsplan) decides. Read the full answer

Is there a subsidy for a multi split?

No. You don't get a subsidy for air conditioning, and that includes a multi split: the ISDE subsidy from the RVO (the Netherlands Enterprise Agency) doesn't cover an air-to-air heat pump.

What warranty do you get?

You get a standard 2-year warranty, on top of your statutory rights. Have Airco Holland service it every year from the moment it is installed, and the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries manufacturer's warranty runs on for up to 5 years. Airco Holland is certified by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to offer this. The extension to 5 years applies to an air conditioner installed by Airco Holland, counted from the installation date. It starts once your maintenance plan is in place and the first service has been carried out and paid for. Skip the yearly maintenance and the extension lapses. You arrange the maintenance on airco-onderhouden.nl.
